ALWAYS WANTED A BRIGHTER, WHITER SMILE?

WHITE FILLINGS

For more confidence and a more natural looking smile, we offer our patients the choice of having white fillings instead of the traditional amalgam fillings.

White fillings are considered both more aesthetically pleasing, because they more closely match the colour of natural teeth, and safer as they are completely free of toxins, unlike amalgam fillings which contain mercury.

White fillings are ideal for restoring damaged teeth and replacing amalgam filling.

IS A WHITE FILLING AS GOOD AS A METAL (AMALGAM) FILLING?

Along with being non-toxic, white fillings look much more natural and can be shaped and contoured to match the appearance of your natural teeth. To ensure your new filling lasts as long as possible we only ask that you follow a regular oral health routine

DO THEY HURT?

Generally, no. But as with many dental procedures you may experience some mild sensitivity for a few days after having your white filling placed. This discomfort typically goes away on its own in a few days but for most people the treatment is pain free. And because white fillings use an adhesive to bond to your tooth, the dentist will probably not need to remove as much of the natural tooth as they would with a metal filling.

WILL PEOPLE KNOW THAT I HAVE FILLINGS?

There’s a good chance they won’t! The Dentistry@Markethill team are trained to the highest standards and they will take the time to make sure your tooth looks its very best. By restoring your tooth to its original shape and colour it may be difficult even for you to spot your new filling!

SHOULD I REPLACE MY METAL FILLINGS WITH WHITE ONES?

As a general rule we recommend you replace fillings only when necessary but we understand there may be times when you may want them replaced for aesthetic or health reasons. Your dentist will be happy to discuss your options with you.
